How do you take stickers off a apple macbook?

im selling my book ASAP so ill take any responses please, and it has stickers that leave residue, and when i was babysitting a little girl for my neighbor she scribbled on it with permenent marker on the lid not the inside. how do i clean sticker residue without damageing it and remove marker. I tryed eraseing the marker but takes forever.
